X (the blue one) would have his sword look like it's made from emeralds. The types of sprites before the weapon ones should be pretty easy for you to make. The "states" that I'd be looking for are that of them lying down in sleep, sitting down, all of the "Damage" type of sprite positions, which you can find in the VX Ace standard character sprite selector, and finally sprites of each character with their weapon(s) out.
